Following the theme of yesterday's skinny pancake recipe I have another cheat-clean recipe for you, this time a savoury one. There is nothing quite like a pizza, but sadly our favourite takeout or restaurant meals can really take a chunk out of your calorie allowance; even the whole day's worth if you're female and cutting back like I am.
Here are a few stats to depress:Pizza Express Fiorentina Pizza = 910 calories
Domino's Spinach Feta Pizza = 1350 calories
Prezzo Classic Vegetarian Pizza = 917 calories
Papa John's Garden Fresh Pizza = 1520 calories
Phew!
No fear though, there are ways of still enjoying the concept of pizza without it screwing up your diet. Swap out the thicker base for a tortilla wrap, use lean meats, less cheese and some green veggies and you can eat the entire thing with a side for half the calories of a pizza from the above places!
INGREDIENTS
1 tortilla (I like Ezekiel sprouted grain)1 tbsp tomato puree
2 tbsp tomato marinara
Example toppings: chicken, red onion, mushrooms, courgette, spinach, tomatoes, mozzarella and basil
METHOD
- spray a baking tray lightly with oil
- preheat oven to gas mark 6
- spread puree and tomato marinara on tortilla
- chuck on your favourite toppings - precook meat if using
- pop in the oven for 15 minutes, until cheese has melted
- eat the whole thing!
